Railway Launches Pilot High-Speed Rail Pet Shipping Service

　　

         Recently, the railway sector launched a pilot pet shipping service on certain trains of the Beijing-Shanghai High Speed Railway. According to a representative from China Railway Express, the pilot service follows the "same departure, same arrival" rule for passengers and their pets. Travelers can check eligible train services using the "Pet Shipping" feature on the 12306 railway app, purchase tickets and make online reservations for pet shipping at least two days in advance. After successful booking, passengers should bring their pet, valid ID, and an "Animal Quarantine Certificate" to the China Railway Express service department at the departure station to complete the shipping procedures. Upon arrival at the destination station, passengers can pick up their pets based on SMS or phone notifications. Additionally, the pilot service charges according to the transport distance with a tiered pricing system. Initially, there is a 30% discount, and basic insurance with a coverage of 2,000 RMB is provided for each pet.
