Modern Railway Logistics Boosting the "Fast Track" for Chinese Car Exports
Currently, China has become the world's largest automobile exporter. Data released by CR shows that in the first quarter of this year, nationwide rail-sea intermodal transport of vehicles increased by 33.62% year-on-year. Railway authorities have launched new initiatives, such as building digital platforms and implementing a "one-bill coverage system," to boost the rapid growth of Chinese car exports.
At the Minhang Railway Automobile Logistics Base in Shanghai, brand-new vehicles roll off long trains and are neatly parked within the base. These cars are then transferred via specialized carriers to the Haitong International Automobile Terminal at Shanghai's Waigaoqiao Port, 63 kilometres away, before being shipped overseas by cargo vessels.
Timely delivery of Chinese cars to overseas markets owes much to the accelerated development of China's modern railway logistics system. As one of the world's largest automobile export ports, Shanghai Port handles one-third of China's vehicle exports. CR-Shanghai, China Railway Special Cargo Logistics Co., Ltd. and Shanghai Port have established a dynamic 72-hour vessel schedule monitoring system, ensuring precise coordination with shipping schedules and improving transport efficiency.
