Urumqi, February 27 (Reported by Guan Yongjun, Niu Ya, and Chen Jiwei) - In recent days, with the continuous increase in the flow of migrant workers entering Xinjiang, special trains have been dispatched to various parts of Xinjiang. To ensure smooth travel for returning migrant workers, CR-Urumqi has taken integrated transportation measures by coordinating closely with various local authorities, meticulously organizing transportation, and providing comprehensive services to ensure the smooth return of workers.

It is reported that the peak of migrant workers entering Xinjiang started in mid-February and will last until mid-March. CR-Urumqi actively communicated with local government departments to obtain information on the number of travelers and their travel times, facilitating the processing of group tickets. They also strengthened communication with other local railway authorities, dynamically adjusted transportation capacity, and increased the number of special trains heading to Xinjiang from popular departure cities such as Chengdu, Chongqing, and Lanzhou. More than 100 such trains have been operated from these cities from February 18 to 25.

Considering the concentrated travel characteristics of returning migrant workers, CR-Urumqi has established green channels at key stations, optimized transfer routes, updated signage for transfers, and opened dedicated waiting areas for transfers. By understanding the train arrival time and traveler amount beforehand, the stations have also arranged staff to guide passengers for transfer and provided convenience services such as free charging areas, dining services, and mailing services, enhancing the travel experience for passengers.

In response to the fact that 70% of passengers on recent trains to Xinjiang are returning migrant workers, the Urumqi Passenger Transport Depot and Korla Passenger Transport Depot have actively provided services on trains, setting up service boxes and service points equipped with power banks for passengers’ needs. They have also strengthened inspections of facilities such as electric tea boilers, toilets, and electric heaters on trains, and implemented disturbance-free services. Additionally, they have introduced affordable meal packages on trains, bringing Xinjiang specialties such as big plate chicken, fried meat noodles, and beef pilaf onto the trains to meet passengers’ dining needs.

With the simultaneous increase in the flow of workers and students, CR-Urumqi will further increase transportation capacity by adding trains, coupling multiple units of EMU trains, and adding train cars according to passenger flow. They are committed to ensuring transportation capacity for the smooth travel of returning migrant workers.
