On January 26, 2024, the National “Village Spring Festival Evening Gala” Demonstration and Display Event took place on Train 5640 of the Shanghai-Kunming Railway. Using train compartments as mobile stages, the event connected stations and villages along the route, showcasing a festive and harmonious scene from Miao and Dong ethnic villages to audiences nationwide.
Running between Guiyang and Yuping, the 5640/39 green train has been operating for over two decades, providing a cheap, convenient, and fast travel option for villagers near more than ten small stations along the route. It is not only the “Happy Express” for locals to visit friends and relatives but also the “Prosperity Express” that transports agricultural products from the mountains to be sold outside.
